Tim in Germany!

This week in Tim

So Ive had a pretty exhausting week. I wrote the German placement test on Monday. The way it works, theres four levels of German varying in difficulty. There were two tests to take, the first one being mandatory. When one thinks that the first one is easy, then they expected us to try the second which was much harder. Anyway, so I flew through the first one, it was pretty basic stuff, and was done really early. Now, according to the language intructors logic, I should have gone to attempt the second one. But what they failed to account for, was my impatience when it comes to writing tests, especially language tests. So I was bored stiff after the first one, and just wanted to go home. So home I went.

Turns out, to get into the 3rd and 4th level, you had to have attempted the second tests, which put me in the 2nd class. Bummer, I thought at first, until I got in the class, and realized Im gonna fly through this without batting an eye. Plus, although I can form sentences best in the class, my Vocab is hurting, so its good to sit there and listen, and write down as many new important words that I can for future reference.

So the last week has been ok, getting up every morning at 6:30 is a pain in the butt, and Ive resorted to napping to get me through the day. My classes go from 8 am -1:15 pm with perfectly scheduled breaks, right as Im ready to lose it, its break time!

Ive also met a ton of really cool people, all exchange students which is also really cool. Theres always been something to do, when i felt like it. Last night a couple German friends of mine and a new Mexican friend, Pablo, went to Sky Beach, that rad beach bar I was mentioning on a previous post. I had been spreading the word to the other exchange students, and I didnt realize how many were so excited. They showed up about an hour after me in a group of 40. Way too many people to cram in an already busy bar.

Posse's that big are too hard to handle. Just to get the group to move down the street took like a half hour of yelling. Good times anyways, I ended up breaking off from the foreigner group to chill with some locals, and drink a few quality beers. I found the beer vending machine on campus, open all night, every night. Cheap too... a 500 mL beer bottle cost 0.85 Eu. Thats value!

The worst part of this week has been homework. I guess I fell out of that loop a bit this summer, and coming back with language homework is just a pain in the ass. My teachers are nice, helpful, and very patient, so it could definitely be worse.

Aaron was supposed to show last night, he hitchhiked from Amsterdam, all I got from him were a few missed calls and him letting me know that theyre takin a train in, I think they made it kinda close, cause the train is a regional one, but i have no clue where theyre at. I just hope I got the right track, cause there are 15 at the Stuttgart Hbf, and he never really told me his train #, just the time. Im gonna greet him and his friend with some cold German beers.

I'lll put some pics up next post, when I have some good ones, this week has been lacking in good photos.

peace
